What can be described as a “nightmare in the southeast” was seen recently when the Vice Standard Bearer of the Unity Party (UP), Nimba County’s Senator, Jeremiah K. Koung, led a team to that part of the country on a campaign expedition for the “Rescue Mission”.

According to information, the team has been reportedly loitering in major cities and towns with no potential crowd to speak with in the region.

The Hot Pepper was hinted that Senator Koung, sandwiched with John Ballout and Senator James Biney, were forced to tarry on the highway, near the Ivorian border, before entering Harper city in the night hours after they received signals that the turnout to receive them was very poor and “heartbreaking”.

According to sources, Koung and his team got in the city during the late evening hours and practically met only a handful of supporters of the Unity Party and the “Rescue Mission” that welcomed them in the cover of darkness.

“What even made matters worse is that citizens in the region were told that the Standard Bearer of the Unity Party, Joseph N. Boakai, could not leave his comfort zone to travel to the southeast,” a source hinted.

In one of Koung’s meetings in Harper, an elderly woman pointed out, “So Joseph Boakai thinks that only his Lofa County alone can make him President right? Go and tell your Joseph Boakai that we have soup for him here in the southeast. He will drink it on election day.”

The sources stated that ever since Koung and his team entered that part of the country to campaign, there has been no significant progress, as the electorate, including youths and the elderly, have made it clear that President Weah is their choice in the southeast.

However, to further test his strength in the region, Koung reportedly made an appearance on Radio Gee, Fish Town, where the presenter of the show had to cut short the entire broadcast owing to negative reception from separate callers.

One caller asked Koung in studio, “You told us you brought football and jersey for usโ€ฆdo you have any football team here?โ€ Another caller pushed him further, “What have you and Joseph Boakai done for us here for which you want us to vote for you?โ€

At this point, when all of the calls in section played negative in Koung and the Rescue Mission’s favor, the host was forced to cut off the show.
