As pressure mounts for change in Montserrado County’s electoral district #13, about 17 local organizations in the district are preparing to petition Solomon Cheapoo, Sr. to contest the 2023 general and presidential elections.

Cheapoo’s preferment came as a result of his devotion and commitment to the upliftment of the district since he resigned his position in the United States government to assist the people of district #13 in the fight against poverty.

The spokesman of the 17 non-profit organizations said the petition will take place in the district in May 2021, with hundreds of residents in attendance.

Stephen Wleh told the Hot Pepper in an exclusive interview at the weekend that they are convinced Cheapoo, who served the US government with diligence, will use his contacts abroad to help develop their district and promote peace and reconciliation among its residents.

He hailed Cheapoo’s current interventions in the area of sanitation, safe drinking water, healthcare delivery and electricity, describing them as manifestation of his readiness to seek the interest of his people if elected to the position come 2023.

Wleh expressed the hope that the young philanthropist will see reason to accept their petition and save district #13 from what he called total collapse.

Solomon Cheapoo, Sr., who is the Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Cheapoo Group of Companies, was born in Topoe Village, district #13, and later migrated to the United States of America in search of advanced studies.

He presently holds two master’s degrees in two disciplines and several medals for good performance in the United States Army.
