The Liberia National Police (LNP) is reporting that a total of 478 road traffic accidents were recorded across the country between January and March 2026, resulting in 71 deaths and 309 injuries.
According to the report, March 2026 experienced a significant surge in road traffic incidents, accounting for 186 cases, along with the highest number of fatalities and injuries during the period under review.
The data indicates that car-to-car collisions were the most prevalent type of accidents, followed by motorcycle-related incidents. Together, these two categories accounted for nearly 70 percent of all recorded cases.
In terms of geographic distribution, Montserrado County recorded the highest number of accidents with 279 cases, followed by Nimba County, River Gee County, and Margibi County.
The report further reveals that vehicle operators were the most affected group, while males accounted for the majority of casualties.
The Liberia National Police is therefore urging all road users, including drivers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians, to strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
