The issue of disadvantaged youths (zogoes) has become a major one that poses threat to the forward match of the country, with the Government of Liberia (GOL) and other well-meaning Liberians and institutions beginning to focus their attention on the growing wave of at-risk youths across Liberia.

Liberation Center Liberia is one of the institutions has started to focus its attention in that direction, as it was established to address drug addiction, vulnerable youth empowerment, among others.

In a chat with the Hot Pepper, one of the directors of the Liberation Center Liberia, Samuel Nunoo, said his organization is about to hold a three-day deliverance  crusade, intended to provide evangelism, ministering, baptism, feeding, clothing, barbing and medical treatment for “zogoes”.

According to Nunoo, the Liberation crusade is slated for March 9—11, 2022 at the Slipway football field, and is accepting at least 500 disadvantaged youths from across Liberia.

He said the DDRR Program, which was implemented by the Government of Liberia (GOL) some years back, was incomplete, arguing that it is one of the contributing factors behind the growing wave of at-risk or disadvantaged youths in Liberia.

Pastor Nunoo said despite the daily increment of “zogoes” on the streets, attention is needed in addressing the root cause of the issue. According to him, hope is still alive for the rehabilitation and transformation of “zogoes” and disadvantaged youths.

The Liberation Center Liberia Director also noted that his institution was established on the basis of transforming the livelihood of drug addicts and vulnerable youths.

He said they at the Liberation Center Liberia believe that some of the root causes are spiritual and mental problems.

Nunoo stated that those referred to as “zogoes” or at-risk youths should not be forgotten by the government and people of Liberia, disclosing that the Liberation Center Liberia has completed the construction of the rehabilitation center for them.

According to him, the rehabilitation center will accommodate hundreds of disadvantaged youths in Liberia.
