Musa H. Bility’s side of the Liberty Party (LP) and Alexander B. Cummings, Alternative National Congress (ANC), are seeking clarity from the National Elections Commission (NEC) on the status of the All Liberian Party (ALP) and the Unity Party (UP) within the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

According to a letter written on March 21, 2022 and delivered to the NEC on March 24, 2022, a copy of which is in the possession of the Hot Pepper, the two political parties say they are in doubt regarding the status of two CPP member parties: the UP and ALP.

The Bility and Cummings communication requested NEC’s intervention into the withdrawal of the two parties because the advisory committee and the executive committee of the CPP have not received any communication of their withdrawal, as required by the framework document. According to them, they have heard of the withdrawal through the media, but are yet to receive letter to that effect as executive members of the CPP. Bility and Cummings said they are concerned because they have been informed that UP and ALP have written the NEC to ban CPP from using their names and logo on any of its document.

They called the attention of the NEC to section 8.5(2) of the CPP framework document, which deals with the procedure leading to a member party withdrawing from the CPP.
