The Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, Liberia Branch, has concluded the third Annual Qualifying round in Quranic Memorization and Recitation Competition in preparation for the grand final to be held in the Kingdom of Morocco very shortly.

The competition, which took place on Monday, April 18, 2022, corresponding to Ramadan 17, 1443, was attended by Quranic teachers, students and other personalities in an atmosphere of high spirituality.

The contest was conducted in the following two categories: memorization of the entire Quran with various styles of recitation; and memorization and recitation of at least five ahazab with observation of the rules of intonation selected by the contestants themselves.

Unfortunately, there were only four contestants in this year’s competition due to the fact that majority of the applicants did not have valid passports; as a result, the foundation could not register them in the absence of valid passports in order to avoid an embarrassment.

The foundation also pointed out that, even though it has, in the past few years, sensitized the public, memorization centers and students about the importance of availability of passport as one of the major prerequisites for registering applicants to participate in the competitions, it seems like those concerned have not paid serious attention to this aspect of the program.

Mohammed M. Jalloh emerged as winner of category A, that is, memorization of the entire Quran, while Kemoh Musa Flomo won category B of the competition.

The two winners are expected to travel very shortly, by the Grace of the Almighty God, to the Kingdom of Morocco to participate in the grand final at African Continental Level.

Meanwhile, the President of the Foundation in Liberia, Sheikh Omaru A. Kamara, in his welcome remarks at the opening session of the competition, expressed great pleasure and gratitude to all those who came to attend the occasion. “It is my great pleasure at this blessed moment to extend to you my heartfelt gratitude for your presence in this Third Annual Quranic Competition of Mohammed VI Foundation of African Islamic Scholars in Liberia. I am honored to sincerely welcome you to the offices, your offices and the offices of all Muslims in our blessed country,” he said.

Sheikh also emphasized, “The hosting of this annual Quranic Competition is a great honor for us and our religion and that we have hold on it very firmly with all our strength because the Holy Quran is the Word of Almighty Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing of Allah be upon Him) as a warning to humanity for the sole purpose of guiding mankind to everlasting happiness and success in this world and the life hereafter.”

He expressed profound thanks and appreciation to His Majesty, King Mohammed VI, for his farsightedness in establishing this beneficial foundation that seeks to serve Islam and Muslims in all aspects of life. He then prayed to the Almighty Allah to perpetuate his glory and honor and to guide him and his family as well as his people to that which Allah loves and pleases Him.
