The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), an institution under the Ministry of Justice responsible to serve as the gatekeeper at border points, as well as monitor and regulate the movement of foreign nationals, has arrested nine Nigerians between Logatuo and Ganta border, Nimba County.

The arrest was made on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

In an interview with the Hot Pepper, Immigration Spokesman, Col. Abraham Ahmed Dolley, disclosed that those arrested are six males and three females.

According to him, the recent arrest was made possible through intelligence tip-off to the LIS Border Patrol Unit (BPU) regarding illegal entries at the border.

Already, Liberia has hundreds of illegal entry points, thus making it easy for the illegal entry of foreigners, which has cuased the LIS to train more officers to prevent illegal entry.

Col. Dolley explained that, despite the many illegal entry points, the LIS is doing its best to arrest illegal foreign nationals as they enter into Liberia.

The Nigerians arrested, when investigated by the LIS, will be charged in accordance with the Alien and Nationality Law of Liberia.
