Ministry Of Education Awards Excellent Performing Educators
As a means of recognizing the effort of teachers in the education sector, the Ministry of Education has awarded educators for their excellent performance.
The program was held at the Centennial Pavilion on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 in observance of the Bicentennial 175th National Flag Day.
The National Educators Award is intended to recognize excellent teaching and contributions made to the profession in the country, which have contributed not only towards improving quality education, but also to enriching the lives of students by developing social skills and values.
Those awarded included Precious J Teeweh, Montserrado, who won the Presidential National Best Teacher’s Award as the best performing teacher in the country. Teeweh was followed by Allen A. Thomas of Nimba County Best Teacher’s Award; Philip L. Mulbah, Bong County Best Teacher’s Award; Emmanuel Z. Wragboe, Grand Bassa Education Minister Best School Principal/Administrator’s Award; and D Derrick Dennis, Montserrado County Best School Principal/Administrator’s Award.
The Presidential National Best Teacher’s Award is considered the most prestigious of LINEAP. It is given every year to a teacher with the most outstanding contributions to the teaching profession in Liberia.
The county Best Teacher’s Award is given to a teacher for their outstanding contributions to the teaching profession at the county level.
The Education Minister’s Best School Principal/Administrator’s Award is given in recognition of excellent school leadership, and the Education Minister’s County Best School Principal/ Administrator’s is given in recognition for excellent school leadership and unique and innovative to school reform and improve student learning outcome, among others.
Speaking during the occasion, the Minister of Education, Prof. D Ansu Sonii Sr., said the award ceremony is the first of its kind in the country, and will continue every year, adding that it is designed to recognize and appreciate the work of the educators in the country.
Meanwhile, Dr. Laurence Konmla Bropleh, Special Envoy & Advisor to President George Manneh Weah who served as the 175th Flag Day Orator of the Republic of Liberia, urged citizens to keep the peace by not allowing politics to divide the country.
“We can only remind ourselves that it’s only through unity, patriotism, love and co-existence that we can keep the light of freedom shining on the African continent. We must not be seen again in this 21st century, tearing each other apart and fighting against each other in a way that only sets the stage to bring our country down on the basis of our political differences.
“If we allow our political decisions, our religious differences and other disagreements to continue to pull us apart rather than unite us, the consequences will be a broken society,” said Dr. Bropleh.
He said everyone has a role to play for the national growth and transformation of the country.
The former information Minister cautioned citizen to treat the national ensign with utmost respect, love and patriotism.
