The Senior Pastor of the Third Providence Baptist Church, Logan Town, Rev. S.E. Emmanuel Ward, has strongly disagreed with the Liberian Senate on the passage of a law for all election magistrates of the National Elections Commission (NEC) to resign and reapply.

According to Rev. Ward, such a law is intended to create misunderstanding among the peaceful citizens of the country. He therefore appealed to the House of Representatives not to concord with the senators, in order to avoid confusion and untold suffering in the society.

He said many citizens believe that if the election magistrates resign their position the ruling party will employ their party members to cheat the other parties during the pending 2023 general and presidential elections.

Rev. Ward said there is a need for the senators to revisit the new law to avoid confrontation among the people of Liberia. According to him, these same magistrates have conducted national elections and several by-elections for representatives and senators, which were all described as free, fair and transparent.

The Baptist preacher made the statement on Sunday at his church when he delivered his regular Sunday worship sermon, on the theme, “Speaking God’s Word with Faith Until it Happens”, Genesis 26-28 and Ephesians 3:19—21.

Rev. Ward has warned Liberians to desist from formulating things that will create big problems after election.

Meanwhile, the senior choir of the church is expected to hold its annual unveiling program to raise funds for a special project of the church as their contribution to the church.

In a related development, the church choir has been invited to participate in the 25th annual conference of the Virtuous Women Conference of the Calvary Redemption Church of God.
