The Episcopal Church in Liberia on Sunday, September 27, 2020 joined countries around the world in celebrating World Day of Prayer at the Trinity Cathedral, Broad Street, Monrovia. The ceremony brought together several members of the Episcopal Church and offered a joint prayer for Christians around the world, Liberia as a country and the world at large.

Speaking to the Hot Pepper during the occasion, J. Yongor Zezay said she was excited to be a part of this year’s celebration of World Day of Prayer, which is always observed throughout the world. According to her, individually they have been praying as Christians but the collective prayer will help in making Christians spiritually strong around the world.

Zazay further explained to reporters that the message delivered to them by the Pastor of St. Stevens Episcopal Church Pastor, Rev. Williams, is to serve as an example in their respective communities at the end of the World Day of Prayer. She maintained that Rev. Williams preached to them on the way they should behave as Christians around the world in order to serve as role models for others to follow.

Diocesan Girls Friendly Society of Episcopal Church of Liberia celebrated, in grand style, the occasion in Monrovia. The group, which comprises of young ladies from the church, was seen with placards with several wordings. Some of the wording on the placards were “Going to Church is more than Attending the Services; it’s to Live out the Church”, “Stop the Rape of Children; it’s a Crime. Let’s put an end to Rape.”

During the celebration, Mother Georgiana T. Williams cautioned young ladies in the church to do the will of the Almighty God whom they serve. She admonished Christians to live right with God and be examples of good Christians.
