The Government of Liberia (GOL), through the Ministry of Health, has rubbished a claim being spread on social media that there is a suspected case of Ebola in the country.

The Ministry of Health informed the public that there has been no reported case of the disease in Liberia, as is being falsely and maliciously claimed by unscrupulous individuals.

Health authorities have said the details contained in a notice that is making rounds are totally false. “The authors and those spreading this fake news have attempted to conflict the 2021 Ebola crisis in Guinea with an imaginary tale about suspected cases crossing over to Liberia. This is wicked and untrue,” the Ministry of Health said in a press release.

Meanwhile, as a further measure to reassure the public, the Minister of Health, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, and Dr. Mohammed Swaray, who are named in the story, were on the national radio, ELBC 99.9 FM Bumper Show, at 4:00 p.m. yesterday and provided the clarification.
