The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has clarified that there has been no fire incident in the vault of the bank, as speculated by media report recently.

According to the CBL, the actuality is that an electrical shock occurred in one of the air conditioners located in the vault on September 21, 2022, but there was neither damage to the vault nor the banknotes or harm to staff of the Bank due to the existing enhanced security.

The CBL assured the public of steps the Bank has taken to prevent the recurrence of the recent incident.
