LDEA burns the stockpile of cocaine recently arrested
SHARE

The Government of Liberia (GOL) has for the first time burned a huge quantity of drugs worth US$100 million.

The US$100 million-worth of drugs, which was arrested by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), along with the National Security Agency (NSA) through an intelligence from the United States embassy in Monrovia, was destroyed at the Barclay Training Center early Wednesday afternoon, October 5, 2022.

Speaking at the Barclay Training Center (BTC), where the destruction took place, the Director of the International Narcotic and Law Affairs, Steve Kessik, characterized as historic the seizure and destruction of  the huge quantities of raw cocaine in Liberia.

At the same time, the Justice Minister of Liberia, Cllr. Frank Musa Dean, said Liberia is a “no-go zone” for drugs.

According to him, the Government of Liberia (GOL) is set to go through the investigation and prosecution process of all those connected to the US$100 million cocaine.

However, he encouraged cooperation among security apparatus to keep Liberia free from drugs. According to him, they currently have before the Legislature an act to make drugs an unbillable crime.
