The Standard Bearer of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and head of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Alexander B. Cummings, says he will begin the fight against corruption in Liberia if elected as President with his close associates. “I wish somebody close to me to steal when we take state power so I can set example on you for Liberian people to see. People who steal from the Liberian people will be punished,” Cummings declared.

Liberian presidential hopeful Cummings said he will do things differently in addressing the country’s age-old corruption problem, which has caused its underdevelopment despite being the oldest African country. According to him, those who have had the opportunity of serving the country’s highest seat have used the same method in tackling corruption, but regrettably they have not succeeded in fighting corruption using this old method. “You can’t be doing the same thing over and over and expect to get different results,” Cummings stated.

Addressing a cross-section of citizens at the Bensonville Administrative Hall in Bensonville on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 as part of his tour of Montserrado County’s district #1, Cummings told residents of district #1 to work with him to democratically retire President George M. Weah in 2023 because of the untold suffering he has brought to Liberians since his election in 2017. Cummings said President Weah, who is being paid by the Liberian people’s money, is not working in the interest of the country and its people; instead, enriching himself along with his officials of government.

Answering a question as to his plan for the education sector, the CPP leader disclosed that there will be set standards for education across the country and improvement in technical and vocational schools. If there is transformation in the education sector, Cummings claimed that job opportunities will be created “so long as you are qualified for work”. He promised to closely work with the representative-aspirant of district #1 in handling the registration fees.

In Harrisburg, Cummings received endorsement from Friends of Destiny, ahead of the 2023 presidential and legislative elections. The group under the banner “Friends of Destiny” also gowned Cummings and vowed to support his presidential bid.

While in Todee, the traditional people wholeheartedly received Cummings and his delegation and, again, pledged support to him.
