A Grand Bassa-based construction firm, Wredyu Construction Company, has, with funding from ArcelorMittal Liberia, completed fencing the Gorblee High School in Wee Statutory District, Grand Bassa County.

Gorblee High School is the only public high school in what is now electoral district #4, Grand Bassa County.

ArcelorMittal, through its 20% allotment for directly affected communities, paid US$97,000 to fence the school for the first time.

ย ย  The project was done in collaboration with Grand Bassa Administration, with money directly coming from the ArcelorMittal Liberia Community Development Fund for affected communities within their operational areas.

Gorblee High School has over the years struggled to control studentsโ€™ behavior due to the open space which hosts the campus. Community dwellers of Wayzohn City and the schoolโ€™s administrator have, for years, pleaded for support to have the school fenced, but to no avail.

According to reports, ArcelorMittal Liberia spent over US$97,959 to achieve the well-built and long-lasting fence, with security booths and bar-wires.

The project, which was brilliantly done by Wredyou Construction Company, has been praised by dwellers of the community, naming the company as one of the best in Grand Bassa County.

Arthur Grigsby, a resident of the area, said, โ€œI am over excited to see the Gorblee School that we all started years back being fenced by ArcelorMittal Liberia.

โ€œWe want to thank ArcelorMittal for providing the fundsโ€ฆ I am overexcited because my children will now go to school sooner because thereโ€™s now good security system and safety for them. They wonโ€™t just leave the campus to go different places like before.โ€

Sundayway Toe, another resident of Wayzohn, mentioned that the fencing of Gorblee Hogh School shows that their lawmaker and the county leadership are working to push ArcelorMittalโ€™s feet to the fire.

โ€œI am grateful for this fencing project, but I wholeheartedly want to appreciate our lawmaker, Vincent Willie, the countyโ€™s leadership, ArcelorMittal Liberia and the Wredyou Construction Company for job well done.โ€

According to her, โ€œWredyou Construction Company didnโ€™t waste time with the project. When they started, I felt it was just another political project that couldโ€™ve taken 5โ€”6 years before completion, but itโ€™s on the contrary.โ€

Also, Naomi N. Nagbe, Principal of the Gorblee High School, said the fencing of the school has helped to reduce the lateness of students.  โ€œI want to appreciate the countyโ€™s leadership, our districtโ€™s Representative, Vincent Willie, and ArcelorMittal Liberia which provided the money for the project,โ€ she said.

Nagbe praised ArcelorMittal for the funding, and said, โ€œWredyou Construction Company did a great Job.โ€

Meanwhile, dedication is expected to be held very soon.
