His Excellency President George Manneh Weah is expected to distribute free life-jackets to all fishermen as a way of fulfilling one of his flagship programs for the fishery sector.
The National Fishery and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 disclosed to the public the official distribution of free life-jackets to all fishermen by President Weah through NaFAA.
The distribution, according to NaFAA, will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the D-Tweh football field, in the Borough of New Kru Town, Bushrod Island.
βThe President, being conscious of the concerns of the fishermen with regards to their safety at sea and also being cognizant of the alarming death rate, has brought in four forty-foot containers of SOLAS recommended life-jackets to be distributed to each fisherman across Liberiaβone life-jacket to one fisherman,β the statement noted.
The NaFAA statement quoted President Weah as saying to fishermen, βYour safety at sea of matters.β
