Unity Party Stalwart, Clarence Massaquoi, says the election of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in 2017 was a democratic error, and underscored the need for the people to replace the government and save their democracy.

Representative Massaquoi urged Liberians to join force with the Unity Party to replace the undemocratic regime by endorsing the leadership of the party’s Standard Bearer, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, whom he claimed has the experience to lead the country on the right path.

The Lofa County lawmaker disclosed that Ambassador Boakai will use his wide range of experience to correct the mistakes and return the country to the democratic path where all men and women are equal under the law.

He said, unlike under the CDC leadership, where state resources are used to enrich its members, the leadership of the Unity Party will ensure that government’s money is used to develop the country and raise living standard.

He disclosed that the Unity Party-led government will ensure that funds such as the one escaping the national coffer each year under the watch of the CDC leadership are used to build more schools, health centers, roads and improve the economy.

The lawmaker recalled that two past administrations of the Unity Party helped to restore dignity to the country and brought prosperity to its people through responsible governance system, which was embraced by the international community.

Speaking at a fundraising program organized by Montserrado County’s district #13 Women in Support of Female Aspirant Cornelia Kruah-Togba, Representative Massaquoi called on women throughout Liberia to close ranks with the Unity Party and end what he called “systematic abuse of womanhood” by the current administration.

Presenting L$150,000 to the group, the lawmaker indicated that women are the worst affected under the present administration, and called on them to be at the forefront of the struggle to democratically unseat the Weah government.

He pledged, on behalf of the Unity Party, to protect the rights of women, as was done in the past when the UP presidential candidate, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, was elected.
