CDC Nimba Chapter Endorses Rep. Koung
The Nimba County Chapter of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 endorsed the senatorial bid of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) candidate, Representative Jeremiah K. Koung, Nimba County’s district #1, ahead of the December 8 midterm senatorial election.
The endorsement ceremony took place in Ganta, Nimba County, with a cross-section of citizens from across the nine electoral districts in attendance. The occasion was graced by chiefs and elders of the county.
The endorsement statement, which was read by Nimba County Assistant Superintendent for Fiscal Affairs, Saye E.L. Musa, highlighted several developmental initiatives undertaken by Representative Koung since his ascendancy to the position as a legislator. He mentioned the construction of a modern hospital in Ganta, extension of the only government high school, provision of scholarship, construction of a market building and the provision of financial loans to citizens.
The endorsement document further described the Nimba district #1 lawmaker as a development king, navigator and a defender. According to the CDC Nimba Chapter, Representative Koung’s presence at the leadership of the Legislature has made Nimba to benefit immensely from budgetary allocation. The group maintained that Koung’s experienced at the Legislature placed him in the best position to occupy the senatorial seat of the county come December 8.
In remarks, Nimba County Superintendent, Nelson Korquoi, called on partisans of CDC to support the senatorial bid of Representative Koung, who is a candidate on the MDR ticket. Superintendent Korquoi indicated that MDR and CDC are partnering together in running the affairs of country and, therefore, supporting its candidate ahead of midterm election is paramount.
He emphasized that CDC is fully prepared to go from village to village, town to town and city to City in order to have Koung elected as senator come December. He admonished all supporters and sympathizers of the ruling party to join the winning team.
In response, Koung applauded members of the CDC Nimba Chapter for organizing such an endorsement ceremony. He said his endorsement is a plus for his political process, especially with the ruling party. Koung told the gathering that unity will be the hallmark of the day if elected senator. With unity, Koung claimed, Nimba can rapidly transform itself in terms of development.
