Nimba Lawmaker Rallies Citizens To Support Arcelormittal’s Projects

ArcelorMittal-Liberia is constructing three playgrounds in Grand Bassa, Nimba and Bong counties.

   The playgrounds are being built in Grand Bassa’s Frank Diggs Community, Zoweinta in Bong County, and Nimba County’s Camp#4 in Yekepa.

   Weeks of groundbreaking in the three project locations came to an end in Camp #4 over the weekend.

   As citizens and community leaders gathered for the ceremony, Nimba County Electoral District Three (3) Representative, Joseph N Sowabei urged the citizens to support the project to its successful end.

   Representative Sowabei speaking to Nimba D-9 TV, praised ArcelorMittal-Liberia for “this brilliant initiative” which he said will create more opportunities for young people to interact with each other”

   He said the playground will guide children against getting  involved with acts that are non-productive for childhood development.

   He equally urged the citizens to provide all necessary support in helping ArcelorMittal-Liberia “implement this community driven project”.

   Liberia Local Consultative Forum (LCF) Chair, Moses Nyan, ArcelorMittal-Liberia Community Relations Supervisor Vaanii Kiazolu II, the township Commissioner and citizens of Camp#4 attended the groundbreaking.

   The project presents the first time a playground has ever been constructed in that part of the iron ore rich community.

   Edmund Gbar, ArcelorMittal’s Nimba County Community Relations Supervisor said the project was necessary to keep children in a state of better childhood.

   He appreciated the community for the warm welcome and asked two children to join him for the groundbreaking.

   The project is under the theme: “Safeguarding our communities program”.

   ArcelorMittal said as it’s phase Two Expansion continues with the aim of increasing jobs and economic activities, it is committed to reaching out and serving its host communities.

   “In the coming weeks, children of Camp#4 community will get to equally experience how much ArcelorMittal-Liberia cares in Transforming Tomorrow”, the community relations supervisor added.

   LCF Chair and Town Chief of Camp#4 Moses Nyan thanked ArcelorMittal-Liberia for thinking about children and to have selected Camp4 amongst many host communities.

   “We are ready and will provide all necessary support to the contractors, and we will protect the materials”.

   Camp#4 dwellers were also grateful to ArcelorMittal-Liberia for her many contributions including the playground project, the under construction mini sports stadium, and a community town Hall for which there has been groundbreaking.

   “All we can say is thank you ArcelorMittal-Liberia” he concluded.
