The National Elections Commission (NEC) yesterday hosted a one-day Inter-Party Consultative Committee (IPCC) emergency meeting of registered political parties focusing on the preliminary solution to the 2020 Voter Roll Review Process by the joint team of Data Support Technicians from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The technical IPCC meeting organized by the Date Center of NEC was also attended by the Special Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission to Liberia, International Partners and members of the Liberian media.
A power point demonstration to representatives of political parties showing the level of work done to further cleanup the Voter Roll was performed by the head of the ECOWAS Technical Team Chidi Nwafor and NEC Data Center Director Isaac Zahn in the James M. Fromayan Conference Hall at the Commission’s headquarters in Sinkor.
In his power point demonstration, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC representative from the Federal Republic of Nigeria said a simple of Eight Thousand two hundred and eight seven registrants were identified from the voter roll update exercise.
The Director of ICT at INEC said the exercise also addressed the issues of de-duplication, double entry based on scanning results, duplicate record which will not form part of the Final Registration Roll, FRR, transfer records from the field that were not in confirmative with the NEC data system.
The data technical support team leader Nwafor said the exercise was jointly carried out by technicians from ECOWAS, UNDP and NEC Data Center, pointing out that these issues are very critical to developing the 2020 Final Registration Roll, FRR.
Meanwhile, registered political parties, ECOWAS, the International Community, led by UNDP and authorities of NEC, through the Board of Commissioners, (BOC) have agreed that political parties will designate their own technicians to work with the date center of NEC to further cleanup the 2020 voter roll.
