Saudi Arabia Donates Several Cartoons Of Dates To Liberian Muslims
The Political Manager of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Saadi Bin Shuniber, on Monday, June 5, 2023 handed over 1,250 cartons of dates as gifts to the Liberian Muslim community on behalf of the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The presentation ceremony, which took place in the conference room of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) on the Second floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was attended by Internal Affairs Minister, Varney Sirleaf, the Chairman of the National Muslims Council of Liberia, Alhaji Abraham Fumba Sheriff, as well as senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by the Acting Foreign Minister Thelma E. Duncan-Sawyer.
Making the presentation at the handover ceremony, the Political Manager of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Saadi Bin Shuniber, expressed happiness to be in Liberia and stated that he is delighted to turn over these gifts from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Islamic community of Liberia.
Receiving the donation, Acting Foreign Minister, Thelma E. Duncan-Sawyer, on behalf of the government and people of Liberia welcomed the delegation to Liberia and at the Foreign Ministry and expressed deep gratitude to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, not only for providing the gifts, but also for the numerous assistance they continue to render the government and people of Liberia.
She particularly hailed the Saudi government’s contribution to the refurbishment of the Foreign Ministry building and urged Shuniber to convey Liberia’s deep appreciation to his government.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Varney A. Sirleaf, expressed thanks and appreciation for the gifts to the Muslims, on behalf of President George Manneh Weah, to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Center.
He further noted that his ministry worked earlier along with King Salman Center to ensure that the gifts were presented before the end of Ramadan, but due to some challenges faced by the King Salman Center they were unable to deliver the gifts ahead of the Ramadan season, observing that “this is the time that Allah has made for the gifts to be turned over”.
He further assured the Saudi government and the King Salman Center that the consignment of gifts, which is 1,250 cartons, will be distributed in the most transparent manner to the deserving community, with an appropriate report communicated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also making remarks at the ceremony, Alhaji Abraham Fumba Sirleaf, the Chairman of the National Muslim Council of Liberia, expressed excitement over the donation and thanked the Saudi government for the gesture.
