Three top opposition political parties in the diaspora have signed a strong memorandum of understanding to remove the “failed” Weah-led government in the up-coming October elections.

The three political parties, Unity Party-Canada (UP-USA/CA), Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction-USA (MDR-USA) and Liberty Party-USA (LP-USA) chapters have entered into an agreement for the purpose of collaborating to achieve the goal of electing the Unity Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, politically known as “Rescue one”, and Nimba County Senator, Jeremiah Koung (Vice Standard Bearer), known as “Rescue Two”.

According to the parties MOU, which is in the position of Hot Pepper, the purpose of the MOU is to support the campaign and campaign-related activities by providing cash, material and in-kind support to the campaign in Liberia and to form part of the mobilization and campaign process in Liberia. “This MOU is the terms and conditions under which UPUSA/CA, the MDRUSA and LPUSA will work to achieve our goal,” the MOU states.

The MOU further states, “It is binding on all parties in the collaboration. Party or parties wishing to withdraw must first seek consensus from all the collaborating parties and shall be allowed to do so after consultation within the collaboration, and after all options to remedy differences have been exhausted.”

The Diaspora partisans have also appointed several prominent citizens in the diaspora to lead the current collaboration structure. They include Kerper Dwanyen, UP-USA/Canada Chairman; Gaye D. Sieh, Jr., Unity Party-USA/Canada National Campaign Committee Chairman; and Murphy M. Gibson, Liberty Party-USA Chairman.

However, the leadership structure of the collaborating political parties will include the Unity Party as Chairman, while the vice chair will be held by MDR, and LP the secretariat.

The official launch of the diaspora collaboration will be held on a Zoom conference on June 25, 2023, with the Standard Bearer and Vice Standard Bearer of the Unity Party, Ambassador Boakai and Senator Koung, in attendance.
