The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Davidetta Browne Lansanah, has officially launched the civic and voters’ education campaign for the 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

Speaking during an in-door program at the National Election Commission (NEC) headquarters in Monrovia on August 2, 2023 under the theme, “Citizens Participation a Must”, the chairperson said CVE is to educate and mobilize citizens who have rights to participate in the election.

During an overview of the program, Cll. Ernestine Morgan-Awar, Oversight Commissioner of CVE, said the aim is to equip participants with vital knowledge and empower them to rally the citizens through CVE initiatives to effectively participate in the October 10 general and presidential elections.

According to her, NEC and partners have recognized the importance of continuously educating Liberians about their voting rights and responsibilities for the up-coming elections.

She assured of NEC’s commitment to promoting a well-informed and engaged citizenry in the communities and in various districts, educating them about the election process.

In attendance at the official launch of the CVE was a representative of NEC accredited civil society organization taskforce, Representative/CVE Cells, a representative of political parties, UN Women, UNDP, Democracy International and USAID.
