On Monday, August 14, 2023 several former and current government officials and other dignitaries signed the book of condolence of fallen Grand Bassa County’s district #1 Representative, Hans M. Barchue, who served as Deputy Speaker of the 53rd National Legislature. The signing ceremony took place in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building.

Foreign Minister, Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah, represented H.E President George Weah Sr., signing on his behalf. Former Vice President, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, House Speaker, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, leading an array of representatives, Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon, River Gee County senators, Jonathan Sogbie and Commany Wesseh, all signed the book of condolence of the late Grand Bassa County lawmaker.

Meanwhile, the Protocol Division of the House of Representatives, in conjunction with the family of the late Representative Hans M. Barchue, has released ceremonials marking the homegoing of the former Deputy Speaker and Representative of Grand Bassa County’s electoral district #1.

According to a release from the Press and Public Affairs Bureau of the House of Representatives, on Thursday, August 17, the remains of the fallen lawmaker will be removed from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Parlors in Sinkor and taken to the Capitol Building to lie in state at 11:00 a.m.

Following the state funeral at the Capitol, the body will be conveyed to the Port City of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, on the fairgrounds for a few hours, after which the fallen lawmaker’s remains will be taken to his district for a night of wake-keeping.

On Friday, August 18, the body will be taken to the A.D Williams Memorial United Methodist Church, Owensgrove, for another night of wake-keeping, and on Saturday, August 19 the funeral service will take place at the same church. Thereafter, interment will take place in his hometown.
