Ahead of the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections, soccer legend, James Salinsa Debbah, has found a new political home in the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) as he joined ranks with Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, standard Bearer of the party, to launch a community outreach door-to-door campaign for the reelection of President George Manneh Weah.

Incumbent President Weah just ended his tour and engagement with citizens of the seventeen districts of Montserrado County. As part of his campaign activities, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Standard Bearer also extended such campaign trail to other parts of Liberia. MOVEE, as a constituent party of the CDC, has highlighted and kicked off key activities relative to taking campaign activities to every nook and cranny of Montserrado County.

The impressive program organized to welcome Debbah and other cadets to the party and to launch its community outreach was held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the MOVEE national headquarters in Paynesville. The program saw in attendance executives, chairpersons, district coordinators, axillaries as well as well-wishers and supporters of the party.

In his brief statement at the event, James Salinsa Debbah echoed that on October 10, 2023 Liberians will go to crucial elections to elect 73 representatives, 15 senators and a President, and used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to the reelection bid of President George Manneh Weah and Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.

“We will also build a stronger tie with people of the same value and common interest. Along the way we have stood by our conviction and worked towards achieving our target. In this regard, to achieve the goal of the reelection of President Weah we are collaborating with a group of people that are thinking like us,” he said.

Debbah, who is a former partisan of the Unity Party, said he believes that Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, whom he described as a friend he has known for over a decade, and the leadership of the MOVEE they can work together to achieve the collective goal of the reelection of President Weah.

Besides working together for the reelection of President Weah, according to Debbah, he is contemplating on a permanent move to the Movement for Economic Empowerment as his new political home. “As I stand here today, I want to make it emphatically clear that I, James Salinas Debbah, along with H. E. Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah are on the same path for the reelection bid of President Weah,” he told the audience.

He encouraged partisans and supporters of the party to galvanize strength and move from door to door to ensure President Weah is reelected in a one round victory in the up-coming October 10 polls, underscoring that the message about President Weah’s re-election comes from the backdrop of tangible development in a relatively short period of time.

“Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, with all her experienced accomplishments, did not finished the job in 12 years, but look at what Weah has accomplished just in six years. I admonished you, Liberians, to be steadfast and resolute to the end. Come out on October 10 and give President Weah a second term,” the soccer legend urged.

Speaking at the program, MOVEE National Chairman, Robert Sammie, emphasized that the reelection of President Weah is a matter of must. He said they see Mr. Weah as model who has helped many Liberians to achieve their dreams, as he explained his humble beginning as a former motorcyclist who has risen to the helm of politics in Liberia.

Further laying his premise, Sammie said President Weah has not finished the job, therefore he deserves another term to have it accomplished. The MOVEE Chairman told the gathering that, while Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai and other opposition leaders could not hold in the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), President Weah who started the Coalition with just three parties, was able to step it up to nine constituent parties, which shows that he is a strong leader. He claimed that the former Vice President lacks leadership ability because he failed to hold three parties together.

“They lack leadership ability and are lying to the Liberian people about rescue mission. You cannot send an 80-year-old man on any rescue mission. Rescue mission is for the young people, and so if you want a rescue mission join Weah and the CDC,” he said. He explained that rescue is about energy and capability, and that President Weah is the right man.

According to Sammie, on the backdrop, James Salinsa Debbah and Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah have acknowledged that President Weah is the right leader with the true vision for the country, Debbah and Kemayah will collaborate in a door-to-door outreach across Montserrado to ensure President Weah gets a resounding one-round victory on October 10.
