The Hot Pepper has accessed pieces of evidence that show wanton covering fraud, cheat and collusion in some voting centers and precincts in Maryland County’s district #2, Pleebo Sodoken District, affecting the race for the post of representative.
Recently, it was reported that some polling places in Pleebo Sodoken, Maryland County, were plagued with a series of controversies involving the appearance of “Country Devil” during the voting hours, which resulted in some observers and other electoral workers fleeing for their lives.
Investigation has established that the “Country Devil”, in collusion with some workers of the National Elections Commission (NEC), including a NEC staff identified as Cece Nimely, the Electoral Supervisors in some rural towns: Old Sodoken, Gbololu and Witchoken, assisted by some traditional leaders, took over ballot boxes and allegedly carried out fraud, cheat and other electoral malpractices.
Some of such evidence available to this medium records the NEC Electoral Supervisor, Nimely, admitting on tape, her collusion with one of the candidates in the election, she mentioned as Anthony F. Williams, a candidate they allegedly favor to commit fraud, as a mandate from the NEC Magistrate in Harper. Several copies of tally sheets also in the possession of this paper show figures or number of voters, per polling centers, far above the NEC threshold per precinct and center, thus suggesting even more reasons to query the outcome of the present result from that part of Maryland County.
Prior to this incident, specifically on election day, it was observed that supporters of one of the candidates in the District, Anthony Williams’s team, were seeing harassing and intimidating members of the CDC along with supporters loyal to candidate Dr. Bhofal Chambers, which got intensified to the extent of threats resulting into bodily harm and destruction of elections materials.
Officials of the CDC and supporters of Dr. Chambers have filed an official complaint against the reported act perpetrated by the “Country Devil” and its co-conspirators. In the complaint form signed by the CDC Poll Watcher, identified as Mr. Steven Russel, the CDC complains that they were disallowed by the “Country Devil” and some “traditional bush masters”, believed to be supporters of candidate Anthony Williams, just before the start of the tallying of the votes.
Russel indicated that while the vote process was taking shape at mid-day, several supporters of the CDC were disallowed by some local NEC poll staff. The Old Sodoken community is believed to be the home-town of candidate Anthony Williams.
Scores of supporters of candidate Dr. Bhofal Chambers are pointing accusing fingers at candidate Anthony Williams, who reportedly ordered scores of young people to take to the streets of Pleebo recently, chanting undemocratic slogans.
However, following the first instance of electoral litigation in Harper City, Maryland County, the matter was filed with the Board of Commissioners at the National Election Commission (NEC) for their hearing into the case. Last Tuesday in Monrovia, the NEC Board of Commissioners scheduled to hear the case emanating from Pleebo Sodoken, Maryland County.
Last Tuesday, following the full assembly of the Board of Commissioner of the NEC in their fiduciary responsibility to hear the Pleebo electoral debacle as filed by lawyers representing the legal interest of Candidate Bhofal Chambers, the defendant candidate, Anthony Williams, pleaded with the NEC board for few days until this Thursday to enable him to find a lawyer to represent his intertest.
Defendant candidate Anthony Williams pleaded with the NEC Board of Commissioners, and the hearing in the case is expected to resume today at the NEC headquarters in Monrovia.
