LNP Launches Investigation Into Tragic Incident At UP Headquarters
The Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred at the Unity Party (UP) headquarters, Broad Street, leaving 25 persons injured.
The incident, which took place at about 10:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, has reportedly left three dead. Of the three deaths, two are males and one a female, as confirmed by medical doctors at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center.
Police investigation established that the cause of the accident was due to a vehicle operator running into some supporters of the Unity Party who were celebrating victory at their headquarters. The operator, alleged suspect Laurence K. Williams, a resident of Du-Port Road, Flower Park community, has been arrested and is undergoing investigation at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police (LNP).
The total 25 injured persons, as announced, comprises of six females and nineteen males, with three confirmed dead, while the rest are undergoing treatment at both the John F. Kennedy Medical Center and the Mawah Clinic in Vai Town.
The police has meanwhile assured the public that the investigation will reach a logical conclusion, when justice will be served. “The leadership of the joint security extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved families of those who unfortunately lost their lives, and keeps in prayer those undergoing treatment,” the LNP said in a press release.
