The Joint Security has announced safety protocols for the pending inauguration of President-elect, Joseph N. Boakai, which is slated for Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Capitol Building, Capitol Hill, Monrovia.

Operators of vehicles, motorbikes, and “kehkehs” are urged to adhere to these measures: beginning Thursday, January 18, 2024, no motorbike, “kehkeh” and heavy-duty truck will be allowed to ply the Roberts International Airport Road to ELWA intersection, and Tubman Boulevard remains a no-go zone to motorbikes and “kehkehs” during this operation.

According to a Joint Security press release, heavy-duty trucks wishing to come to Monrovia from the route of the Roberts International Airport (RIA) will be allowed to do so through the 15th Gate, Firestone Road, during this operation, while motorbikes and “kehkehs” from Gardnersville and Duala will be detoured through Waterside and will return through the same route during this operation.

“On inauguration day, Monday, January 22, 2024, vehicular traffic from ELWA to Monrovia will be diverted to Jallah Town, Sinkor, by assigned officers; vehicles plying from central Monrovia through Sinkor will be diverted to Jallah Town through Bestman Corner; vehicular movement from 20th Street, 19th Street, 12th Street, 9th Street, 1st Street, Capital By-Pass intersection, Bassa Community, and Conex’s head office, will be diverted by assigned officers,” the release observed.

The Joint Security warned those without invitation to stay clear off the inaugural grounds up Capitol Hill, Monrovia, in order to avoid any inconvenience.

“All those with access passes for vehicles and themselves must at all times display them to avoid inconvenience. All gas/fuel unauthorized sellers are asked to stay off the main roads in and around Monrovia,” the release noted.
