Senators in Session on Thursday, February 1, 2024 voted unanimously to confirm presidential nominees Boima Kamara as Minister of Finance and Development Planning, James Dorbor Jallah as Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and Sylvester Grigsby as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs.

Twenty-eight senators voted in favor for the confirmation of Kamara and Jallah, while 27 senators voted for Grigsby.

The Senate’s decision to have the three nominees confirmed was based on separate reports submitted to plenary by the Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, headed by Bong County Senator, Prince Moye, and the Committee on Executive, headed by Maryland County Senator James Biney, which recommended that the three individuals have the requisite experience and qualification to serve in the positions.

The Secretary of the Liberian Senate has been instructed by the President of the Senate, Jeremiah Koung, to communicate plenary’s decisions to the Office of the President, Joseph Boakai.

The three nominees were examined through a public hearing held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 on Capitol Hill.
