Cyril Allen Blasts Job Seekers
National Patriotic Party Chairman Emeritus and member of the Governing Council of former governing party, Chief Cyril Allen, has blasted Diaspora Liberians for what he described as “looting spree” for jobs opportunities in the Unity Party government.
Chief Allen noted that most of the people concerned have worked in the Unity Party government led by former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and the CDC government led by former President George Weah, mismanaged what they earned in those past governments, and are in town seeking new job opportunities.
He pointed out that most of those Diaspora Liberians often allegedly soil the character of people when they are on their job-seeking spree in the country—after they have mismanaged what they got in the previous government.
Chief Cyril Allen urged President Joseph N. Boakai not to bow down to any pressure if he wants to do the right thing for the Liberians people for the next six years.
The NPP Chairman emeritus termed the action of those Liberians as unpatriotic and undemocratic, saying it has the proclivity of painting the country ugly in the eyes of the international community.
Chief Cyril Allen said he wants the Liberian people to give President Joseph N. Boakai breathing space as he goes about nominating his officials in government, on ground that he knows those who do not have the country at heart.
He called on President Boakai not to bow to any pressure from any Liberian as he goes about nominating his cabinet members in government, based on his experience in government over the years.
The NPP Chairman emeritus expressed confidence in President Boakai in picking the right Liberians, whom he thinks will serve their country well, based on his experience in governments over the years.
Chief Allen revealed that President Joseph N. Boakai is consulting with opposition political parties and the UP Alliance as he goes about nominating government officials.
“He does not want to make some of the mistakes the previous government made in the past, including the CDC government, which made them to serve for only one term as a result of employing unqualified people who failed to deliver to the Liberian people,” Chief Cyril Allen disclosed.
The National Patriotic Party Chairman emeritus and member of the CDC Governing Council urged Unity Party Chairman, Rev. Luther Tarpeh, to govern himself accordingly as President Boakai goes about nominating his cabinet members.
He asserted that being a governing party chairman is a full-time job; as such, there is no need to lead a protestation at the home or office of the President. He stated that he once served as governing party chairman, and he did not ask for job; rather, helped to guide the President in running the day-to-day affair of the President’s office and keeping the party’s structure in tact across the country.
Chief Allen’s comments were in reaction to the recent protest of some partisans of the Unity Party at the home of President Joseph N. Boakai, allegedly led by Unity Party Chairman, Rev Luther Tarpeh, which Rev. Tarpeh has since denied.
He called on Unity Party Chairman Rev. Tarpeh and senior partisans of the party to give those who are charged with the responsibility to vet nominees in government the chance to do their work freely.
As the scramble for government jobs in the Joseph Boakai administration is intensifying, last week, Unity Party Chairman, Rev. Luther Tarpeh, allegedly led a protest in front of President Boakai’s residence because he has not been appointed to public office.
On Sunday, Senator Prince Johnson took to his pulpit to say his Nimba County region deserves between five and seven cabinet positions instead of one. He told his congregation last Sunday that Nimba Country played a pivotal role in Boakai’s victory; as such, the county deserves more ministerial positions.
