Montserrado County’s district #9 Representative, Frank Saah Foko, has vowed to submit a communication to plenary seeking the impeachment of President Boakai.

Speaking with a team of journalists on Monday, February 26, 2024 at NaFAA, Representative Foko threatened to file an impeachment proceeding against President Joseph N. Boakia for what he termed as incompetence and violation of the rule of law.

According to him, the replacement of tenure officials by the President is a gross violation of the Constitution of the country.

He said the President’s recent appointments at the Environmental Protection Agency, National Road Found, and the Internal Audit Agency are all violations of the Liberian Constitution.

Representative Foko said what President Boakai has been doing in the short period of one month is unlawful, and there is a need to impeach him.

The chair on maritime, along with other committee chairs, went to perform their oversight responsibility. He said President Boakai’s one month in office has proved his inability of stirring the country’s affairs.

“I’m working on a communication to impeach the president on account that he’s unable to lead the country for the next six years,” Representative Foko stated.

“The impeachment of the President will be on the floor Thursday. We going to make sure that we impeach President Boakai.

“One thing I can assure you, Mr. President, is that we will work with you. We are going to respect you, but one thing we will never accept from you is to disrespect our Constitution,” he maintained.

Meanwhile, Representative Foko said two times the President has not represented Liberians out of Liberia. He said serious issues are going on around the region where other Presidents have gone to seek solutions for their peoples, but President Boakai did not attend. “They are breaching the laws in so many places. Let’s look at the port of Buchanan, how can you appoint someone to a civil servant’s position?” he wondered.

The lawmaker said his decision is not about political party but in the interest of the Liberian people.
