The Managing Director of the New Energy Electric Vehicles of Liberia (NEEV), Molley Varney Paasewe, has officially launched the Liberia Sustainable Transport Empowerment Training Program; Cynthia Quinisierreports.

Speaking during the launching of the program on Thursday, March 21, 2024, Paasewe said it is with great enthusiasm and dedication that they unveil the Sustainable Transport Empowerment Program (STEP), a groundbreaking initiative that embodies their commitment to revolutionizing Liberia’s transport sector forsustainability, inclusivity and economic viability.

NEEV-Liberia’s mission, he said, is clear: to drive a low-carbon sustainable transport revolution that not only aligns with Liberia’s NDC goals and long-term climate objectives, but also propels socio-economic growth and environmental resilience.

According to him, through the partnership with the Ministry of Transport they will pave the way for a cleaner, greener and more efficient transportation system that benefits present and future generations.

He said the STEP program underscores NEEV-Liberia’score values of empowerment, inclusivity and innovation.

“By providing technical training for tricycle riders and equipping them with the skills to operate electric vehicles, we are not only creating employment opportunities but also nurturing a culture of eco-conscious entrepreneurship,” Paasewe said during the program launch.

“With a focus on gender equality, we opted that over 30% of the program participants will be female, championing diversity and equal representation in the e-mobility sector.

“As we embark on this transformative journey, we invite aspiring changemakers and eco-warriors to join us in shaping a brighter, greener future for Liberia and the world,” he noted.

Paasewe said, “Together let us drive change, empower the youth and build a resilient, sustainable transport ecosystem that benefits Liberia.”

Paasewe disclosed that the CEO of NEEV-Liberia, Cassell Anthony Kuoh, has just returned to the country and will join them today for the final day of training.
