The Liberia National Police (LNP) has broken grounds for the construction of a mini-mosque for Islamic officers and civilian personnel at its headquarters. The project is estimated at about US$75,000.

Speaking during the groundbreaking program, the Chief Iman of the Republic of Liberia, Sheikh Ali Krayee, expressed his delight for such a historic milestone in the history of the Liberia National Police (LNP) for officers who have faced difficulty in commuting to long distances for prayer.

Imam Krayee said the construction of the mini mosque will further enhance and strengthen the already existing relationship among personnel of the institution.

Sheikh Krayee embraced the undertaking of the religious center for Islamic law enforcement personnel by the administration of the LNP.

For his part, Deputy Inspector General of Police for Operation, Atty. Nelson Freeman, who proxied on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Gregory O.W Coleman, pledged the administration’s fullest support to the construction of the mini mosque in observance of religious tolerance and freedom.

Atty. Freeman, in closing, reminded the audience that the LNP remains committed to providing security to Muslim brothers and sisters across the country by making officers available during this Holy Month of Ramadan.

Also gracing the occasion were the Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Public Works, A. Samuka Dunnoh, Deputy Chaplain at the Supreme Court of Liberia and other high-ranking LNP officers.
