Commissioner Fahnbulleh Backs War& Economic Crimes Court Establishment

Mohammed E. Fahnbulleh, a Commissioner at the Independent National Commission on Human Rights, hasexpressed support for the establishment of a war and economic crimes court in Liberia.  

  Commissioner Fahnbulleh stated that it is important thatthe war and economic crimes court is established thatindividuals who committed crimes against humanity may account for their actions. He said Liberians should erase the negative perception that establishing the court is another form of witch-hunting.

  Commissioner Fahnbulleh made the statement on Monday, March 18, 2024 at his Sinkor, 20th Street office in Monrovia. Attorney Fahnbulleh added that the call for the establishment of a war and economic crimes court is in the right direction, and should be welcomed by all well-meaning Liberians.

  The INCHR commissioner emphasized that it is important that individuals who committed heinous crimes against humanity be taught a lesson. 

  The INCHR commissioner stated that he is happy that the lower House has signed the resolution for the establishment of such a court, and prayed that the upper House concurs with them. 

  He called on Liberians throughout the country to support the establishment of the war and economic crimes court.Attorney Fahnbulleh also stated that individuals who committed crimes against humanity need not go with impunity. 

  Meanwhile, Commissioner Fahnbulleh has welcomed the establishment of the Assets Recovery Taskforce.According to him, individuals who acquired huge fundsovernight and built big homes need to tell the Liberian people how they acquired those funds.

  He stated that people should not see the Asset Recovery Taskforce as a witch-hunt.
