–Exposing Amara Konneh’s Lies About Missing MedTech Documents
Investigation conducted by the Hot Pepper has revealed that some of the recent claims made by Gbapolu County Senator, Amara Konneh, are false and only intended to cover up for his delinquency and to buy public sentiment.
Since his ascendency to the National Legislature, Senator Konneh has positioned himself in the Senate as the honest one, which appears to be somewhat different from his demonstrated character in his recent deportment.
Early this week, the lawmaker took to his Facebook page reporting that his office had been burglarized by unknown individuals who took away items, to include documents related to the MedTech investigation, a log of compensation, gasoline benefits he and his staff received since February, and L$10,000 office petty cash for staff lunch.
Like Senator Konneh, offices of Senators Joseph Jallah of Lofa County and Thomas Yaya-Nimely of Grand Gedeh counties were also burglarized by the thieves, with items, including laptops, stolen.
A joint investigation conducted by the Anti-Burglary Department of the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Capitol Security has tracked down and arrested the actual doer of the crime, identified as Nana Gobah alias “Elbow”, who has admitted to committing the act at the Liberian Senate. However, statements from the criminal have confirmed stealing of four (4) laptops from offices of Sen. Jallah and Nimely.
In his testament on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Gobah, who is currently in police custody, denied stealing cash and gas coupon from Senator Konneh’s office, contrary to earlier claims made by the lawmaker.
According to the thief, burglary is his job and during his search he looks for valuable items to sell in order to get cash, stating that his aim is to look for money and not documents. “What am I doing with documents? I didn’t steal document. I stole laptops and not gas slip or cash,” the thief confessed.
The Director of Security at the Liberian Senate, Dyonisious Wisseh, said the police have retrieved all the missing laptops and turned them over to the owners.
Reliable sources have informed the Hot Pepper that Senator Konneh, as head of an investigating committee, should have presented the findings on MedTech on the day before the burglary, but due to his delinquency and failure to catch up with the stipulated time he saw the incident as a way of scapegoating.
Another investigation states that the Gbapolu County Senator had compromised the investigation after he realized that some of his close associates are connected to the company, and any attempt for the committee to dig deep would lead to his exposure.
