The Movement with Integrity for National Development (MIND) has refuted the claim against the President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, who was accused by stakeholders of Margibi County of reportedly reverting earlier appointments of Margibi County’s local officials made by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai on April 23, 2024.

In a release issued on Friday, May 31, 2024, MIND said it finds the allegation against Senator Karnga-Lawrence baseless, false, unbelievable and misleading. “At no know time the President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, revert the decisions of the President, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, or even delayed the confirmation of the appointed officials of Margibi County,” the MIND release observed.

According to FrontPage Africa sources, Senator Karnga-Lawrence is allegedly holding meetings in Monrovia at a local resort with some supporters of the Unity Party (UP), headed by former Margibi County Superintendent, Levi Z. Pia, to inaugurate a local leadership for Margibi County that would work in the interest of Senator Karnga-Lawrence.

However, MIND has condemned the allegation and called on the citizens of Margibi County and Liberia not to take seriously the baseless propaganda.

MIND accused some media houses of not following the ethics of journalism, but are instead practicing yellow journalism to destroy the reputation of prominent citizens.

“MIND believes that when Liberians are given the opportunity to serve their nation, like Senator Karnga-Lawrence, they should be encouraged to work for Liberia rather than trying to use the media to count out irrelevant issues,” MIND stated in the press release.

“In conclusion, we call on the President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, to continue the good work at the Senate in order to move the country forward,” the release added.
