The Helpless Foundation International Liberia has appealed for agriculture support in order to contribute to the economic development of the country.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, J. Yohyah N. Salwah, the foundation is appealing to the government of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the international community to support them. He stated that the organization is engaged in a major agriculture activity to ensure swift economic recovery among the people.

The HETHFOI boss made the appeal during an executive meeting with his staff on Sunday, held in Gaye Town, Old Road. He noted that the best formular for economic growth and development of any nation is to support the citizens for self-sustainability in food production.

According to him, HETHFOI-Liberia, founded on the basis of transforming the lives of Liberians and residents alike, is seeking assistance from government and its international partners in order for it to realize its dream of lifting people from the dungeon of poverty.

He pointed out that the organization wants to help improve the standard of living of the people through agriculture engagement. He revealed that the organization is currently operating two separate farms containing cassava, plantain, corn, pumpkin and cucumber in Rivercess County.

Salwah said he believes that when government provides the needed resources, either in cash crops, agricultural implements or materials such as power saws, cassava processing machines, among others, the organization will extend its activities by further planting coconuts and palms in order to buttress government’s effort in improving the livelihood of the people.

He indicated that HETHFOI-Liberia is a non-governmental organization founded on August 24, 2022, registered with the Liberia Business Registry and empowering many people through two of its four pillars: agriculture and microfinance. He noted that these pillars are creating job opportunities and self-sustainability among the people, particularly, rural dwellers.

The HETHFOI-Liberia’s Founder pointed out that Liberia could be an outstanding nation within the sub-region if adequate attention is given to agriculture and not just a matter of lip-service.
