The National Action Group (NAG) has forcefully condemned what it described as unacceptable introduction of tribal sentiments into the recent leadership dispute within the Liberian Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) involving its Director, Abe Kromah, and his deputies, Gbawu Kowou and Hassan Fadiga. According to NAG, the President’s suspension of the leaders underscores the severity of the rift within the agency.
NAG implored all involved to cease exploiting tribal affiliations to influence public opinion. “Such tactics threaten to deeply fracture our national unity and tarnish the integrity of our institutions. We denounce any attempt to manipulate public sentiment through tribal discrimination, particularly against Mr. Kromah’s tribe, which could dangerously escalate tensions in an already volatile situation,” NAG said in a press release.
NAG then urged a strict adherence to the facts and insisted that the on-going investigation be allowed to conclude without bias or external pressure. The group emphasized that justice must be administered fairly, uninfluenced by ethnic or tribal biases.
Furthermore, NAG called on the public and the media to exercise restraint and responsibility, avoiding the spread of potentially inflammatory misinformation. “It is crucial that we uphold principles of justice and unity to maintain the credibility of our state institutions,” the release observed.
According to the release, NAG remains vigilant and committed to promoting transparency, accountability and cohesion across Liberia. “We will persist in our advocacy for resolutions that reinforce the rule of law and strengthen the fabric of our nation,” the release stated.
