Gov’t In Search Of New Auditor General
The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, has set up an Ad-hoc Committee to identify and recommend top candidates for the post of Auditor General of the Republic of Liberia.
Cllr. Archibald F. Bernard, Jr. was named as chair of the committee, which comprises heads of integrity institutions in the country.
As part of the vetting process, the committee will identify, scrutinize and recommend three candidates to the President for subsequent appointment.
President Weah’s decision is in keeping with Section 2.1.1 of the GAC Act of 2014 on the selection and appointment of Auditor General.
In the appointment letter to Cllr. Bernard, the President said, “You are hereby requested to chair the Ad-hoc Committee, and in keeping with the provisions of the Act, to undertake a professional, independent and transparent recruitment process to present the names and backgrounds of the three qualified persons for the position of Auditor General.”
Other members of the committee include Senior Representatives of the Governance Commission (GC), the Civil Service Agency (CSA), Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA), Institution of Civil Society in Good Standing and Current Auditor General of the GAC.
