Following the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) physical testing conducted across the country at the various regional headquarters of the LIS, one of its successful candidates is reportedly dead.
According to information gathered from authorities of the LIS, candidate Henry Wesseh met his untimely death during the intensive physical exercise conducted with various successful applicants following the recent aptitude test.
The deceased is from Yarkpa Town, Rivercess County. He was pronounced dead at the Government Hospital in Buchanan after being rushed there by the LIS’ local authorities in the county.
Buchanan is the headquarters of region one. Region one is made up of three counties: Margibi, Rivercess and Grand Bassa.
The on-going LIS recruitment process has stages: application, aptitude test, physical test, medical test, to be followed by admission into the LIS training academy in Foya, Lofa County.
Since the LIS started the recruitment process, they have received 9,743 applications from the public. Within this number, only 8,100 applicants took the aptitude test following credential and age checks by the LIS vetting committee.
Authorities of the LIS informed the Hot Pepper that 4,000 out of the 8,100 shortlisted successful candidates participated in the physical test on August 23, 2024 across the country.
In keeping with best practices, LIS say they wish to inform the public that background check will continue throughout the process in order to get the anticipated 500 new officers to join the LIS.
