LDEA Arrests Over US$100K-Worth of Drugs In Sinkor
On August 21, 2024, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) arrested suspect Abu Keita, 36 years old, Ivorian and a resident of 18th Street, Sinkor, for the possession, sale and distribution a powder-like substance believed to be heroin/cocaine and methamphetamine (Kush). Upon investigation and testing of the seized substances conducted on August 22, 2024, the substances showed positive for heroin and methamphetamine (Kush).
The Kush substance seized weighed 1.8kgs, with a street value of US$36,000 or L$6,840,000; and heroin, 1.8kgs, street value of US$81,000 or L$15,390,000. The total of Kush & heroin seized weighed 3.6kgs, with total street value of US$117,000 or L$22,230,000
Suspect Abu Keita has been investigated and charged for the possession, sale and distribution of narcotics substance in violation of Sections 14.89 and 14.85 of the 2023 Drugs Law as amended, as well as Sections 10.4 and 10.2 of the Penal Law of Liberia. Suspect Kieta is being forwarded to court for prosecution.
