Muslim Community Praises Pres. Boakai For Giving Centenarian Alhaji Amadu Sheriff A Befitting Burial

On October 3, 2024, the Muslim community of Liberia gathered at the late Alhaji Amadu Sheriff’s residence and lauded President Joseph N. Boakai for his humanitarian gesture toward the fallen imam’s burial.

The gathering at the late Sheriff’s residence in Chocolate City was to pay homage to him for the religious and humanitarian services he rendered to Liberia, West Africa and other parts of the world.

In recognition of his lifetime of service, President Boakai recognized Alhaji Sheriff with one of the nation’s highest distinctions, the “Humane Order of African Redemption”, at the rank of Knight Grand Commander.

On September 27, 2024, President Boakai paid tribute to the late Muslim prelate from the United States of America while attending the United Nations 79th General Assembly.

The Muslim community, with its leaders, including Religious Advisor to President Boakai, the head of the National Muslim Council of Liberia, head Imam of Liberia, among others, thanked President Boakai for providing  ambulance, food stuff and funds, and for favoring Muslims in his administration.

Meanwhile, the Muslim community has pledged their unflinching support to President Boakai’s administration for success.

The Muslim prelate, who passed off in September, died at the age of 118, according to information gathered from family members.
