Over the weekend, former Presidents Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and George M. Weah, as well as President Joseph N. Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Koung and members of the 55th National Legislature visited the family of the late senator and expressed their condolences over the passing of the statesman.

Speaking during the visit at the late senator’s home, former President Weah said Senator Johnson was his in-law and good friend.

According to him, Senator Prince Johnson and him had a scheduled meeting on Saturday, noting that the late senator texted him that he wanted them to talk. Unfortunately, he said he received a call about Senator Johnson’s death on Thursday.

Ex-President Weah vowed to keep the last text between him and the senator souvenir. He also promised to be in Nimba County for the burial.

On his Facebook page, President Weah wrote, “I offer my deepest condolences over the sudden passing of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, who reportedly died in the early hours of Thursday, November 28, 2024 here in Monrovia. Liberia is bereaved; Nimba is bereaved; the Liberian Senate is bereaved. I extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and all those impacted by his passing. May his soul and those of all faithful departed rest in peace.”

At the same time, former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has expressed her sincere condolence to the family of the late senator, and said Prince Johnson was someone who made history in Liberian politics.
