The National Road Fund of Liberia (NRF) and the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at facilitating, guiding and promoting internship opportunities in Liberia.

According to a NRF/IECD press statement, the strategic partnership underscores their mutual commitment to enhancing vocational training and providing valuable experiences for students in the country.

“The MOU is a cornerstone of the STRIVE [Strengthening Integration through Vocational Training] Project, which seeks to create a robust framework for collaboration between both institutions. Through this initiative, NRF and IECD will work together to develop and implement effective internship programs, particularly within the road construction sector, thereby equipping young Liberians with essential skills and real-world experience,” the press statement observed.

According to the statement, the parties are dedicated to establishing clear objectives and responsibilities, ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with industry needs and that students gain meaningful experience that prepares them for future employment.

“As part of this initiative, both NRF and IECD will actively engage with governmental bodies, private sector partners, and educational institutions to create a sustainable model for internship placements that benefits all stakeholders involved.

“The signing of this MOU marks a significant milestone in our on-going efforts to enhance vocational training and internships in Liberia. We are enthusiastic about the opportunities this partnership will present to the youth of Liberia and anticipate its positive influence.
