Residents of the FDA community within Whein Town have applauded the management of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) for its decision to recondition the community road, which is cardinal to commuters from the various communities. Some of the community dwellers, who were seen in a jubilant mood last week when Public Works Ministry commenced the reconstruction of the road, told the Public Affairs Division (PAD) of FDA how gratified they were to see the rehabilitation of the “much-talked-about” FDA Road.

During a brief interview with the PAD, one of the prominent residents of the community, Tarnue Taylor, applauded the management of FDA, headed by Managing Director, Rudolph J. Merab, Sr., for the initiative to recondition the community road leading to the compound of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA). He said the on-going road work is indeed laudable.

Taylor, who has lived in the FDA community for more than fifteen years, revealed that prior to the reconditioning of the road the FDA community road was a major challenge for residents, thereby causing lots of accidents due to the bad condition of the road.

He stated that sometimes when he encountered patients at his clinic, especially pregnant women who are in labor pain and are to be referred to another hospital, it becomes very difficult for ambulance to access the clinic as a result of the road condition. He explained an instance when a pregnant woman delivered on the road while enroute to the nearby clinic or hospital.

He further explained that the reconditioning of the FDA road will allow the community dwellers to have easy access to the community and its environs. He is therefore recommending job opportunities for qualified residents of the community and streetlights.

At the same time, the General Chairman of the FDA community, Abraham B. Binda, also expressed gratefulness to God that this historic development is taking place in their community under his leadership. Chairman Binda stated that since 2005 there has been leaders that have served the Forestry Development Authority, but thanked the management team of FDA for the support and listening ears given to the community’s dwellers through the reconditioning of the road. He said during their visit to the office of the MD they appealed to him and his deputies to help in reconditioning the road to avoid major accidents.

Responding to delegates from the community, the MD assured them that the FDA and the Ministry of Public Works will make sure that the road is reconditioned.

Chairman Binda also requested that FDA provides land space for marketers to prevent them from selling on the main road. He also appealed to the management of FDA for job opportunities for qualified residents and streetlights to help keep the community safe from criminals.
