On January 10, 2025, Momoh David, an alleged notorious criminal, was beaten by an angry crowd after being caught stealing wires from a LonestarCell Tower. The incident was officially recorded in the Occurrence Book at Zone 3 Police Station. The next day, January 11, David was again assaulted near Sando Cooper’s residence on Congo Town Back Road. On January 12, 2025, David’s misfortune continued. After being caught stealing at Kromah’s property in the same neighborhood, he was tortured and brought injured to Zone 3 Police Station. However, the police rejected him, advising that he be taken for medical treatment before they could register the case. En route to a clinic, David managed to escape. This incident was also recorded in the Occurrence Book at Zone 3 Police Station.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., David was again caught stealing—this time a solar panel from the construction site of Chinese national Michael Shio, opposite LC Lawson School. Security guards chased him to a swamp near the Chinese embassy, where he was apprehended. His father, Abraham David, intervened to prevent another mob beating. After this intervention, they walked from near the Chinese embassy to Michael Shio’s residence opposite A La Lagoon, where they waited for transportation money. From there, they walked to a stop near the Ministry of Health, took a transport car, and proceeded to Zone 3 Police Station. Upon arrival, they waited for the police to register the case at 10:30 a.m., a period of one and a half hours.

When, within this timeline, was there any opportunity to pour hot oil on Momoh David and torture him is still an unsolved puzzle.

Additionally, Momoh David did not report any alleged torture on January 13, 2025, when he was taken to Zone 3 Police Station by Shio’s security. From January 13, 2025, to February 8, 2025, a period of 28 days, no such claim was raised, further deepening suspicion.

On February 10, 2025, at Central Police Station, Eugene Fahngon, Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), unlawfully entered the Crime Against Persons Unit office, demanding an interview with Michael Shio. Due to strong resistance, Fahngon exited.

On February 12, 2025, while the Michael Shio were still in detention, Fahngon and LBS staff forcibly entered their residence opposite A La Lagoon, took videos, and created propaganda against Michael Shio. Fahngon later posted defamatory and misleading information on his Facebook page, stating: “Visit With David Momo; The Victim Of Michael Sio (Chinese National) Gruesome Brutality,” and LNTV Liberia LIVE similarly reported: “LBS Director General visits the home of a victim, Momoh David, brutalized by a Chinese national identified as Michael Sio, in the Congo Town area.” This created a false impression, which is far-fetched and contradicted by Momoh David’s own statements.

In the same video, starting at the 4-minute mark, Fahngon asked Momoh David: “My understanding is that you spent three days in that compound, is that true?” Interestingly, Momoh David did not answer the question; instead, his mother responded, saying “yes.” This directly contradicts the Zone 3 Police Station records, which show that the matter occurred at 9:00 a.m. and was reported at 10:30 a.m. on January 13, 2025. This statement also contradicts David’s interview on Spoon TV on February 17, 2025, where he claimed he was taken to the police station on the same day. This deliberate falsehood attracted public sentiment and attention.

From some indications, it appears like Fahngon is paying back on Shio for the misfortune he brought on Gao Feng (known as Barry), also a Chinese national.

According to information, Fahngon and Shio have a longstanding conflict arising from an incident involving Fahngon’s associate, also a Chinese National, Gao Feng (also known as Barry), in 2024. Gao Feng engaged in illicit mining activities in Gbarpolu County, unlawfully encroaching on the exploration license area of NEO Global Minerals and Mines Inc., a company connected to Michael Shio. As a result, the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Liberia (MME) held Gao Feng liable for the encroachment and imposed a fine exceeding twenty-two million United States dollars (US$22,000,000). A settlement was later reached, with Gao Feng paying US$300,000 to LRA resolve the matter.

On July 25, 2024, Eugene Fahngon posted pictures of Gao Feng and Michael Shio on his Facebook page, stating: “The Real Story Of Illicit Mining Will Be Told On Sunday With Real Facts. Get Your Data Ready For Facts Vs Fiction…” This further proves the longstanding conflict between Eugene Fahngon and Michael Shio.
