–Allegedly Fabricate Torture Case And US$300,000 Bribe To Push For Deportation

A legal battle has erupted over allegations of a fabricated torture case against businessman Michael Shio, exposing what his legal team describes as a conspiracy between the Director General of LBS, Eugene Fahngon, and Chinese national, Gao Feng, aka “the Real Minister”. Shio’s lawyers have filed a petition for a writ of prohibition against what they claim is an illegal proceeding by the House of Representatives, shedding light on an alleged plot to falsely implicate him in a criminal case and facilitate his deportation.

According to court documents, Momoh David, a notorious criminal, was caught stealing solar panel lights from Shio’s construction site near R.C. Lawson School on January 13, 2025. Prior to this, David had reportedly been involved in multiple thefts on January 10, 11, and 12, resulting in him being beaten by angry crowds at various locations in Congo Town. These incidents were recorded in the Occurrence Book at Zone 3 Police Station.

Shio’s legal team maintains that his only involvement was providing $20 for transportation so that security personnel could take David to the police station. However, officers at Zone 3 refused to detain him, stating that he had already been there with pre-existing injuries the day before. Instead, they instructed security to take him to a hospital. According to the police charge sheet, while en route to the hospital, David shook the motorbike and escaped.

On February 6, 2025—26 days after David was taken to the police by Shio’s securities, a WhatsApp messages from the White House community group revealed that community leaders had met with Eugene Fahngon to discuss “Michael Shio’s saga”. Two days later, on February 8, Officer R13 allegedly visited the hospital and coerced David into making a false statement, claiming that Shio poured hot oil on him and set dogs on him. However, the report was originally backdated to January 13 before being corrected to February 8, after Shio challenged the timeline.

Despite these inconsistencies, police charged Shio and others with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation—without first obtaining a medical report. When prosecutors subpoenaed ELWA Hospital for David’s medical records, the findings directly contradicted the allegations, that David was admitted on January 17, 2025, 4 days after he escaped from Shio’s security brought him to hospital. And the wounds were caused by fire, not hot oil as alleged, and the burn occurred within 24 hours before David admitted to hospital. Also No evidence of dog bites or pepper spray injuries was found in his medical report.

With the case falling apart, Representative Yekeh Kolubah has alleged that Gao Feng—a Chinese national accused of illegal mining in Gbarpolu County—provided US$300,000 to Fahngon to push for Shio’s deportation through some members of the House of Representatives.

Gao Feng, reportedly engaged in illicit mining operations, was recently fined US$18,124,923.60 by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. However, he allegedly negotiated a voluntary settlement of US$300,000 with the Ministry of Justice to avoid court proceedings.

Sources claim that Fahngon and Gao believe Shio exposed their illicit mining activities to authorities. Fahngon allegedly reinforced this claim by posting a photo of Shio alongside Gao on Facebook on July 25, 2024.

As the legal and political battle continues to unfold, Shio’s defense team maintains that he is the target of a politically motivated smear campaign aimed at forcing him out of the country. With multiple investigations on-going, more details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
