The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) is calling on the Grievance and Ethics Committee of the Supreme Court of Liberia to disbar or revoke the operational license of Cllr. Johnny Momoh for his indictment by the Grand Jury of Montserrado County in 2024.

The Grand Jury of Montserrado County on November 25, 2024 indicted Cllr. Momoh, Patricia Miatta Kamara of CHAL and others for burglary and theft of property, criminal mischief, criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy and economic sabotage—a felony of second degree under the law.

NACSUL said it considers as a travesty of justice for Cllr. Momoh to be indicted by the Grand Jury of Montserrado County but still parading the corridors of the Supreme Court without any action taken against him by the Grievance and Ethics Committee.

The civil society group has also welcomed the decision by Criminal Court “C” Judge, Blamo Dixon, to have recused himself in the case involving businesswoman Marie Nellon and Cllr. Johnny Momoh at the Temple of Justice.

Nellon, a former Fiancée of Cllr. Johnny Momoh, was allegedly assaulted by Cllr. Momoh and his co- defendants in 2023, with her belongings including huge cash and jewelries thrown out of their Brewerville residence. Recently, NACSUL demanded Criminal Court “C” Judge, Blamo Dixon, to recuse himself from the case because his daughter is allegedly in an intimate relationship with Cllr. Johnny Momoh, who is a co-defendant in the case.

With the recusal of Judge Dixon, NACSUL looks forward for the assignment of a new judge to handle the proceedings, ensuring that the case continues without hindrance.

NACSUL is at the same time demanding the immediate dismissal of Patricia Miatta Kamara, Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Liberia (CHAL) who, along with others, collaborated with Cllr. Momoh to allegedly violate the right of Nellon.

Meanwhile, the National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) is calling on the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL), women advocacy groups and civil society organizations to rally their support around Marie Nellon to receive speedy and fair trial.
