The Muslim community and the Fula tribe, on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 woke up to the sad news of the passing of their kinsman and advocate, Alhaji Bella Diallo. Diallo was pronounced dead at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital Tuesday night, after a period of illness.

    Family members, friends, relatives and a huge segment of the Muslim community assembled at the United Da’wah Ummah Mosque, 17th Street, where the remains of Diallo were taken for prayer.

    The occasioned was also attended by a number of government officials, including Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor, Religious Adivisor to the President, Alhaji Usmane T. Jalloh, Assistant Minister Abubakar Bah, and Deputy GSA Idriss Bility.

   Speaking at the mosque, the Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Abubakar Bah, said, as it is part of his ministry’s responsibility to spearhead the government’s drive for peace, unity and reconciliation, Alhaji Bella Diallo was a key element in that agenda, as he was a humble servant who continued to foster peace and reconciliation. He said Diallo’s love for unity in diversity remained unmatched. He termed Diallo’s death a great loss to the Fula tribe, Muslim community and the Republic of Liberia.

   Alhaji Bella Diallo was a founding member and Vice President of the Fula Business Association, a member of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and the Liberia Business Association. He was a key figure in ensuring that the National Legislature passes the Liberianization Policy. He was also the Chairman of the United Da’wah Ummah of Liberia, and the first Board Chairman of the Federation of Fula University Students of Liberia (FFUSOL). He contested the 2017 general and presidential elections as a representative-candidate on the ticket of the Liberia People Party (LPP), but loss to the candidate of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Moses Acarous Gray.

   He was buried at the Muslim graveyard, Old Road. He leaves to mourn his wife, children, grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends in Liberia, USA, Guinea and other parts of the world.
