Ruth G. Towah, wife of a Liberian diplomat, William D. Towah, has alarmed over what she calls neglect, abandonment, harassment and threats to her life, as a result of unending and life-threatening rankles with her husband, Dr. Towah, former Director of Administration & Finance, ECOWAS Community Court of Justice.

Towah cried that Ambassador Towah, to whom she has been married for a little over one year, left their matrimonial home in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, for a place (believed to be a hotel) unknown to her, and that she has no access to him for more than five months now.

The embattled wife, in her desperate cry for rescue and justice, explained that prior to her husband’s departure from their home he brought heavily armed men (police) to forcibly throw her out of the house through unimaginable violence, which she resisted despite the obvious threat to her life.

Available video footage shows Dr. Towah, in a serious mood, instructing the armed police in the corridors of the house, while she is heard claiming and maintaining her right to privacy, and insisting that the armed men get out of her house and stop violating her privacy.

Ambassador Towah, during the June Term of Court in Liberia, filed for divorce, but while the divorce legal formalities are ongoing their union’s toxic nature escalated and he moved out of the home to an unknown place, believed to be a hotel, for several months now.

On August 3, 2025, his wife wrote a communication to the Liberian Embassy in Abuja, complaining about threats and physical aggression against her, a legally wedded wife of Dr. William D. Towah, estranged and undergoing divorce proceedings.

She further informed the Liberian Embassy that she has been subjected to physical assault and threats of harm by individuals connected to her estranged husband, notably, his driver and his son—her stepson—Yao Towah, who allegedly attacked her physically on separate occasions.

“These incidents were reported to the Nigerian Police and remain a matter of official record,” she explained.

She further alleged to have been continuously threatened and harassed by her estranged husband, Dr. Towah, and others connected to him, which gives her reason to believe that these individuals are being actively encouraged by her estranged husband in their actions against her.

“As a Liberian citizen under your diplomatic jurisdiction, I find it imperative to formally alert Your Excellency of these unfortunate developments and to request that the embassy take note and, where possible, offer guidance or necessary consular protection.

“I remain available to provide supporting documentation or appear in person should Your Excellency require further clarification,” she maintained.

The ambassador’s estranged wife, who is reported to be on her way to Liberia to intensify her cry for justice, is calling on the Liberian government, civil society organizations, particularly the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL), and the public to come to her rescue.

Dr. William D. Towah, on June 16, 2025, filed for divorce before the Civil Law Court, Temple of Justice, Monrovia, for incompatibility of temper, but since then feud has escalated between him and his now estranged wife (Ruth G. Towah).

He is also believed to be on his way to Monrovia any time soon, where it is expected that the legal battle over their divorce case would intensify—as she seeks redress for the alleged threats, intimidation and harassment she is undergoing.
